Favorite Places to Photograph Near Salt Lake City, Utah | Emli Photography

I’m probably bias, but Utah has the most beautiful scenery. You can drive almost an hour in any direction and you’ll find yourself in a new setting from the mountains, lakes, deserts and many more that it has to offer. I’ve listed these places that I often go to and these are probably some of my top favorite places to photograph my clients.

Tunnel Springs (North Salt Lake)

This is located 15 mins outside of downtown Salt Lake City.

Beautiful open hills top fields and tall grass with a stunning view.

Jordan Pines - Big Cottonwood Canyon (Salt Lake City)

Big Cottonwood Canyon / Jordan Pines is about 35 mins away from Salt Lake City.

The drive in the canyon has the scenic view of mountains and trees.

Any season is perfect for the backdrop for your photos.

Silver Lake - Big Cottonwood Canyon (Salt Lake City)

Additional 15 mins drive from Jordan Pines.  Silver Lake is located at the head of Big Cottonwood Canyon . The trail surrounds the lake and its associated wetlands is about a mile long, most of it along a wheelchair accessible boardwalk. (Fee and permit is required to shoot here)

Rooftops in Downtown Salt Lake City

The true definition of an urban shoot.

If you are not scared of heights, 360 view of buildings surrounding you. Rooftop sessions are for you.

It’s a breath taking view of the city that you cannot get enough of.

Utah Capitol Hill (Salt Lake City)

The building of the capitol is perfect for those who are wanting the white, modern and timeless photos. Inside there are marble floors and walls and the outside has grand stairs, fountains and trails.

During the Spring time, cherry blossoms can be found surrounding the capitol.

Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve - “Bird Refuge” (Layton)

About 35 mins North of Salt Lake City, the Great Salt Lake Shorelands Preserve surrounds itself with the wetlands and uplands habitat along the eastern edge of the Great Salt Lake.

Antelope Island (Syracuse)

About a 45 mins drive north from Salt Lake City. $10 fee entrance per vehicle

Antelope Island is the perfect place to view the Great Salt Lake and you may see a few bison along the way.
